Hearts Cosmetic Pouch

Hi everyone! I have always been interested in trying out grid crochet patterns and I decided to make a couple hearts into a pouch. There are some other patterns I have saved and hope to try out and share with you guys in the future. So, I hope you enjoy this pattern!

For this project I used a 9 inch zipper, the Lily Sugar n’ Cream yarn in 3 different colors and just some regular sewing thread. Please comment below if you have any questions about the pattern.

  1. To start off, chain 19. Then follow the diagram below. As you can see, there are only 15 stitches across, so you should have 2 extra stitches on either side of the heart.

  2. Then, after you have completed your first heart, you are going to single crochet 5 rows.
  3. Next, you are going to create the heart for the opposite side. For this side, you are going to follow the diagram above, but starting from the bottom.
  4. The next thing I did was take the same kind of yarn, but in pink and attached a single crochet to along loops on the inside of the hearts  Make sure you tie off any strings before crocheting over them. This will give you a nice second layer on the inside.
  5. Now, we are going to start working on attaching the zipper. Start by sewing along each side of the zipper in normal sewing thread as in the picture below. Then, you are going to attach the zipper with a  single crochet on every other stitch. Do the same with each side of the zipper on the inside and outside of the pouch.                     zipepr.JPG
  6. To give the sides of the pouch some shape, start crocheting along the sides with the main color. Crochet all the way along and then turn and continue with the next row on the other side of the zipper. Then on the third row, crochet until the last four stitches,  sc2tog x2 (this will give the bottom some shape). Continue single crocheting until the end of the row. Continue with the next row in the same fashion. Then turn the pouch inside out and connect the two sides with a single crochet all the way down. Repeat step 6 on the other side of the bag.                                                                                                          heart bag sides.JPG
  7. Lastly, we are going to sew in the ends of the zipper. Using sewing thread, sew the ends of the zipper into the sides of your pouch. Then, sew in any loose ends you may have.

Here is the finished makeup pouch! I was surprised by how many things I was able to fit in here.
